New England Clam Chowder Ingredients 4 slices bacon, diced small Saute bacon in large kettle until crisp. Add onions and saute 10 more minutes. Add cubed potatoes, salt, pepper to taste, and 1 1/2 cup water, cook uncovered 15 minutes or until potatoes are fork tender. Reduce heat. Add clams and the liquid, half and half (or heavy cream), and butter to the kettle. Stir til well mixed. Gently simmer until hot. |
