1/2 Cup Shortening 
  3/4 Cup Creamy or Crunchy Peanut Butter 
  1/3 Cup White Sugar 
  1/3 Cup Packed Light Brown Sugar 
  1 Egg 
  2 T. Milk 
  1 Tsp. Vanilla 
  1-1/2 Cups Flour 
  1 Tsp. Baking Soda 
  1/2 Tsp. Salt (set aside of bowl of white sugar to roll your dough balls in) 
  
Optional: Chocolate Chips
Heat oven to 375. Beat shortening and peanut butter. Add white and brown sugars; beat until fluffy. Add egg, milk and vanilla, beat well. Combine flour, baking soda and salt; gradually add to the peanut butter mixture. Beat well. Shape dough into 1 inch balls; roll in white sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned. (Option: press a few morsels onto the top of the cookies while they're hot) Remove to wire rack to cool. Makes about 4 dozen.
